LANSING- Today the state’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs issued a press release titled, “Medical Marihuana Regulation Centralized in New Bureau” which detailed the creation of the new Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation, BMMR.
BMMR is a division created within LARA and will contain all elements of medical marijuana patient, caregiver and facilities licensing duties. “Regulatory functions include the licensing, investigation and enforcement of medical marihuana growers, processors, secure transporters, provisioning centers and safety compliance facilities. The legislation requires the bureau to make licensing applications available by December 15, 2017,” per the Release.
Also announced in the Press Release: the winner of the bidding contest to provide the seed-to-sale tracking program for the new Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing program is Florida-based Franwell, Incorporated. Contact information on their web page lists a Lakeland, Florida address.
Franwell is a specialist in the Radio Frequency Identification tracking industry. From their website:
