LANSING- The Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation (BMMR), the department responsible for administering Michigan’s medical marijuana program, has modified the 2018 meeting schedule for the MMFLA Licensing Board.
The change comes as the Licensing Board was impotent in its effort to approve medical marijuana business facilities under the new Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA) during their March 22nd meeting.
The previous list had the Licensing Board meeting seven more times in 2018, roughly skipping every third month. The current list crams five meetings into three months’ time, a necessary adjustment if the MMFLA program is expected to issue enough business licenses to create an industry from scratch. The state started accepting applications in December of 2017.
The BMMR has more than 400 applications in process at this time, according to the department’s Director, Andrew Brisbo. The Licensing Board must approve all licenses issued by the state in five cannabis industries: cultivation, processing, transportation, testing and retail sale.
All the remaining meetings take place in the city of Lansing. The full list of sessions for 2018, including two completed meeting dates, are included below.
