Michigan’s 10 Most Influential People in Marijuana
This list is presented alphabetically, not in order of importance.
8. Rob Kampia
As the leader of the Washington, D.C.-based group Marijuana Policy Project, Rob Kampia has influenced more existing state medical and recreational programs than perhaps anyone in America. His group created the Michigan ballot group Committee to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, picked the name, and selected the partners- including a controversial decision to add tobacco retail giant Wild Bill’s to the drafting committee for the petition to legalize marijuana in Michigan. That association has led to criticism of MPP on a national level and in state-based media. The CRMLA drafting committee also included members of the MILEGALIZE group and the MINORML organization. Kampia’s Michigan influence is wielded by his in-state team and will amplify after the petitions are approved and the measure is guaranteed to be on the ballot, as the public relations campaigns against and for the proposal are sure to be visible and newsworthy.
